This extraordinary excursion occurred on 6 to 30 November 2010 and encompassed three main destinations: the Falkland Islands, South Georgia Island, and the Antarctic Peninsula. We also briefly visited Santiago, Chile on the way south and Ushuaia, Argentina, the port of departure and arrival of our ship, the National Geographic Explorer. The spectacular vistas, intimate encounters with nature, and constant sense of adventure combined to create a travel experience like no other we had ever known. We are very grateful to our traveling companions and ardent Antarctic enthusiasts, Joan and Barry Boothe, for encouraging us to make the trip.
