The storied lands of the Middle East have one of the oldest and longest histories on earth. Tourists have come there since before there was tourism. It took us a while, but in January and February we finally got there. Traveling with Sausalito neighbor and friend, Maureen O'Sullivan, we first visited the wonders of Jordan. A week later we began a two-week exploration of Egypt. We saw fabulous antiquities, met interesting people, had great guides and drivers, slept in dessert tents and fabulous hotels, and ate many delicious meals. This was indeed a grand tour!
